Two short scenes in two different spaces. In the first scene the room is much cluttered, full of stuff, boxes etc. There is a girl sitting on a chair. She’s very well dressed, wearing fancy clothes from the 20’s and a birthday hat. Suddenly more and more people enter the room one after another for her birthday party. At one point they realise that there’s not enough space for all of them. When girl’s husband comes home with a huge bouquet of flowers he can barely open the door and can’t reach his wife to wish her happy birthday. In the second scene the space seems bigger. It’s a spacious white room, in which there is nothing more than just a chair. The girl is sitting on a chair. She’s dressed very stylish, but minimalistic and she’s wearing a birthday hat as well. Her husband enters the room with a rose in his hand, comes to her and wishes her happy birthday. The screen goes blank, slogan appears: “STOP CONSUMERISM! LIVE YOUR LIFE SIMPLE.”
THE AIM OF FILM CAMPAIGN
To make people aware of the negative influence of consumerism in our lives nowadays and change their attitude towards material possessions.
KEY MESSAGE OF FILM CAMPAIGN
Material things will not bring you happiness. Live your life simple and be less dependent on buying things to feel good about yourself.
THE AUDIENCE OF FILM CAMPAIGN
Young adults in their late twenties living in Great Britain. Our audience is in Great Britain because it is one of the countries with the highest consumerism. We aim for people in their late twenties, who just finished their studies. People in this age usually have to adjust to a grown-up life, start working full time, earn money on their own and rent or buy and then arrange their own apartments.
THE UNIQUE APPROACH
We want to present consumerism through a contrast between a cluttered space and a very minimalistic one.
We want to make the whole film to look very clean, minimalistic. To present the contrast between two scenes we will focus more on clothes and props. We will make the first one look like from the 1920s and the second one to be very simple. Camera angles and movement will remain quite simple as well.
